Coming up to nine months of Rituals

It’s coming up to nine months since we launched Rituals of Impact, and it feels like a good time to take stock, share a few things that have happened along the way – and say thank you to everyone who has bought, read, recommended, reviewed or talked about the book.

Since launching, we’ve had the chance to meet readers at events in Auckland and Wellington, talk about the ideas behind Rituals in some interesting and fun places and – most importantly – hear how people are putting their own rituals to work. And we're now getting close to selling out our second print run.

Here's a recap of the last nine months... and a Father's Day offer.

Give a little more impact this Father's Day.

Get 30% off Rituals of Impact until midnight Sunday 6 September with the code FATHERSDAY. A book to read, write in, return to – and, hopefully, use for years to come.

Free shipping in NZ; $10 Australia-wide.

Taking Rituals beyond the page

One of our highlights to date was being guests on the brilliant Tech Beyond Gender podcast.

The conversation covers the book and much more, including work and life, avoiding burnout, making deliberate choices about where we put our energy, and finding ways to maximise our potential not simply as employees or employers, but as human beings.

More recently, John joined Josh Comrie on the 2 Commas podcast for a wide-ranging conversation about the overlap between building a high-performing business and building a life (and a body) capable of sustaining it.

Drawing on John’s experience through three major tech exits, they discuss how we can bring the same focus to our health as we do to business results.

“Humanistic, compassionate… and a beautiful book”

We were particularly thrilled when author and book critic Catherine Robertson discussed Rituals of Impact with Jesse Mulligan on RNZ.

Catherine totally got what we were trying to make: not just a business book or something you read once and put back on the shelf, but a practical companion to return to and make your own.

“This book is very humanistic and compassionate; it's beautiful with illustrations, and it has plenty of space for notes and reflections. It's one to be worked through at your own pace and used as a manual to hang on to.”

She also summed up the purpose of the rituals beautifully:
“They've set up these rituals to help you clear away the clutter and focus on what's genuinely important to you – in all aspects of your life.”

And, having been self-employed since she was 26 and run a business for more than 20 years, Catherine gave us perhaps our favourite endorsement:

“This would have been good to have 20 years ago.”

Bring Rituals to your team

We’ve had quite a bit of interest from organisations wanting to buy Rituals of Impact for their teams – so we’ve put together a special bulk offer.

Get five copies of Rituals of Impact for $125

This offer also includes the option of booking in for a free 30-minute session with John to help you get the most out of the book with your team.

If you're after more than five copies, please get in touch and we can talk about what would work best for your organisation.

Read it? We’d love your review.

If you’ve read Rituals of Impact, please consider leaving us a review on Goodreads. For an independently published book like ours, reviews and recommendations genuinely help.

And something to listen to…

We’ve created an Impacts of Ritual playlist – music for starting the day, creating a little space to think… or perhaps accompanying you while you work through the book.

Happy listening!

What's happening next with Rituals of Impact?

With spring on the way, it's a great time for reviving old Rituals... and creating new ones!

By popular demand, we're now prepping for the audiobook recording of Rituals – we'll keep you posted on (John's) progress, and of course let you know when the audiobook is ready to launch.

We're also working on getting the book onto more shelves around New Zealand, so watch this space. For now, the best place to buy a copy is to buy directly through us at www.ritualsofimpact.com.

We’re also exploring ways to apply Rituals in new ways and interactive contexts, including workshops and events that bring the ideas in the book into workplaces and communities.

If you think a Rituals of Impact session could work for your workplace, organisation, library, university or event, we’d love to hear from you.

Thanks again for all your support and for being part of the journey so far.

We’d love to hear about the rituals that are making an impact in your life, too – drop us a line!
